EMP Award Winners 2025

On Jan 13th at the Getting Started with the EMP webinar, we were delighted to announce EMP School of the Year and EMP Teacher of the Year for 2025. 

Thank you so much for all those brave souls who entered, we were phenomenally impressed with the level of teaching and the impact shared. 

School of the year: Tarneit Rise Primary School! The results of Tarneit Rise PS speak for themselves. View an overview of their progress in this webinar recording. 

Teacher of the year: Tiana Samuels from Rivergums Primary School. Tiana is an absolute machine in the classroom! See her deliver with pace and accuracy, and hold incredibly high standards in this full video of her EMP Year 2 (Level C) lesson. Video.

Teacher of the year (runner up): Faith Englebrecht from Rivergums Primary School. Faith really struck us with the precision of her teaching, pace, and warmth in this phenomenal Year 1 (Level B) lesson. Video (scroll to vid 2). In round 1 scoring, Tiana and Faith actually both got equal first from our judges! So do place equal weight on Faith’s vid when watching for tips and tricks on smashing EMP out of the park in the classroom!

 

Overview of EMP Awards

The Explicit Mathematics Program (EMP) Awards recognise outstanding schools, teachers, and leaders who are delivering exceptional mathematics education and achieving measurable student growth through EMP.

This year’s awards are designed to provide an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the incredible work happening across schools.

Prizes

Winners will receive:

  • School of the Year
    • $5,000 AUD voucher for EMP resources to be used for 2026 or 2027 order
    • A personal school visit by Ollie Lovell to see EMP in action and record classroom footage
    • Publication through EMP social channels and newsletter
  • Teacher of the Year
    • $1,000 AUD cash prize
    • A personal school visit by Ollie Lovell to see EMP in action and record classroom footage
    • Publication through EMP social channels and newsletter
